Mahakam Festival East Kalimantan
This annual grand event in the city of Samarinda is in its ninth year. The festival is all about competitions: Mahakam River crossing, dragon boat racing and jet skiing. Tge event also celebrates music, food and culture along the legendary river with the melodious sounds of dangdut, colorful paradise and traditional food tables. (Nov 2-4)

Borobudur Writers and Culture Festival
Attracting writers – both fiction and non-fiction – the festival also brings together “creative workers, cultural and interfaith religious activists”. Each year, BWCF presents a main theme, selected for its potential to stimulate the participants to re-acknowledge the variety, wealth, and uniqueness of ideas in literature, art and religions of the archipelago. Jogja Netpac Asia Film Festival
The JAFF is a premier Asian film festival focusing on the development of Asian cinema. This festival contributes to introducing Asian cinema to a wider public in Indonesia, and also provides a space for the intersection of many sectors, such as arts, culture and tourism.
