JAKARTA, OCTOBER 18, 2019 - PT Indonesia Tourism Development (Persero) or the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), SOE developer and manager of the Nusa Dua Bali tourism area and The Mandalika Lombok - NTB, are ready to host the 2021 MotoGP preseason at the Mandalika Street Circuit ( Mandalika Circuit (currently being built in the tourism area of The Mandalika, Lombok, NTB.
As announced by Dorna Sports SL (DORNA), MotoGP broadcast rights holders, via www.motogp.com, the Mandalika Circuit will be one of the pre-season 2021 test locations by riders, if MotoGP Mandalika is included in the 2021 calendar.
ITDC Managing Director Abdulbar M. Mansoer said, "We are ready and very happy to host the 2021 MotoGP pre-season test as planned by DORNA. For this reason, we will ensure that the construction of the Mandalika Circuit is completed on schedule, so that the Mandalika MotoGP can enter the 2021 racing calendar. "
At present the construction of Mandalika Circuit has entered the roadworks' ground work phase which has reached 30 percent. "Asphalting the road will begin in December 2019 before then proceed with upgrading the surface of the road body into a racing track. "By the end of 2020 we are targeting the construction of the circuit to be completed, so that it can host the 2021 pre-season test, which is expected to take place in February or March 2021 before the 2021 season begins," said ITDC Managing Director Abdulbar M. Mansoer.
The 2021 pre-season test on Lombok (Mandalika Circuit) is scheduled to last for 3 days as announced by DORNA and is expected to be followed by all contracted riders, according to the FIM World Championship Grand Prix Regulation which requires contracted riders to take a number of official tests scheduled by MotoGP organizer.
So far there have only been four tests for the 2021 season announced by DORNA, namely one 3-day pre-season test on Lombok, two 1-day tests on Monday after a racing event and one 2-day test each on the circuit will be determined later.
The Mandalika Circuit will be the first highway circuit in the world to be built from the concept stage. The circuit will have a length of 4.31 km and 17 bends built in the middle of a sports & entertainment cluster in The Mandalika tourism area. This open circuit will present beautiful views of hills and beaches, built as world-class attractions in developing The Mandalika as a world-class tourism destination.
