PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), or InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), introduced The Mandalika as a leading sport tourism destination while highlighting its readiness to host the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 at the Indonesia Sport Summit (ISS) 2026.
The event was held from September 11–13, 2026, at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Jakarta.
During the event, ITDC opened a booth to introduce The Mandalika and showcase the destination’s potential to integrate sports and tourism development to stakeholders and industry players in the sports sector.
Visitors to ISS 2026 could also visit the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 booth to obtain information about the MotoGP event and ticketing. In addition, visitors had the opportunity to experience the racing simulator at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit and purchase a variety of official merchandise.
Acting President Director of ITDC, Ahmad Fajar, said that sports and tourism offer significant opportunities to be developed together, particularly through the organization of international events in tourism destinations.
“Indonesia Sport Summit (ISS) provides an opportunity for us to introduce The Mandalika to the broader sports ecosystem. We want to demonstrate that sports can be an integral part of destination development while also creating positive impacts on economic activities in the surrounding areas,” said Ahmad Fajar.
He added that ITDC’s involvement in developing sport tourism is part of the company’s role as an Agent of Development.
According to him, the presence of international events such as the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia can bring together sports, tourism, and economic opportunities for local communities, thereby contributing to economic growth in the surrounding area and the wider region.
“When an event is held at a destination, its impact can be felt by many parties. Hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, MSMEs, and local businesses all gain opportunities from increased visitor numbers. This is what we continue to promote through the development of The Mandalika,” Fajar added.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, Troy Warokka, said that preparations for the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 are continuing and being further strengthened.
The preparations cover not only the readiness of the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, but also various aspects of the event, including hospitality and entertainment. The organizing committee is also strengthening coordination with various stakeholders to ensure the event runs smoothly.
“We continue to prepare all aspects of the event to ensure that the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 runs successfully. This is not only about the circuit, but also about ensuring that spectators have an extraordinary experience throughout their time at The Mandalika,” said Troy.
The organizers also expressed optimism about this year’s event as spectator enthusiasm continues to grow. To date, ticket sales for the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 have reached 51 percent.
