Balige, Lake Toba, 22 August 2025 - As part of the international excitement of The Lake Toba GP 2025, which brings together the UIM-ABP Aquabike Endurance & Class Pro Circuit World Championship and the UIM F1H2O World Championship – Grand Prix of Indonesia 2025, InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) held a Parade Clean Up on Friday (22/8) in Balige, Lake Toba. The activity brought together 50 volunteers who worked hand in hand to clean the area around the race venue, showing real efforts to protect the environment.
This initiative is part of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Waste Management Campaign, a clear demonstration of ITDC’s commitment to responsible sport tourism. ITDC aims to ensure that every world-class event at Lake Toba is not only a spectacular water sport experience but also leaves a positive legacy of a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment.
Organizing Committee Chairman of The Lake Toba GP and ITDC Director of Operations, Troy Warokka, said “Through the ESG Waste Management Campaign, we want to ensure that the beauty of Lake Toba is preserved for future generations. We are proud to see the strong enthusiasm of volunteers who joined this activity. It proves that sport tourism and care for the environment can go hand in hand.”
Alongside the clean-up, ITDC also organized waste management education for local communities, teaching how to sort, reduce, and dispose of waste properly. To reinforce this message, educational signage and materials were placed around the venue as reminders of the importance of keeping the environment clean.
Through this initiative, ITDC and its stakeholders emphasize that Lake Toba is not only known for its stunning scenery, but also as a symbol of environmental responsibility. Community participation is key to ensuring that this effort continues beyond the international event, growing into a shared culture that secures Lake Toba’s place as a world-class destination for future generations.
