NUMBER: 01 / PR-ITDC / I / 2019 The Mandalika, January 13, 2019 - PT Indonesia Tourism Development (Persero) / Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the state-owned BUMN managing the Mandalika region, appreciated the local community who took the initiative in making a clean beach movement in the coastal area of Kuta Beach and surrounding areas. The program took place on Sunday (1/13) and was attended by 150 people who joined the Lombok Tourism Forum (LTF) from travel associations, the Central Lombok District Government, and the local community. The beach clean up event was also attended by the Head of Kuta Village, Mirate along with residents of Kuta Village; Kuta police chief, Saogi; Chairperson of the Lombok Tourism Forum, Kanom with all members; and the Mandalika Deputy Project Director Adi Sujono and all ITDC employees. Chairperson of LTF Kanom revealed, in addition to cleaning the beach, beach cleaning activities were also carried out at the same time to build a sense of brotherhood between local residents and the area manager (ITDC). "This is a positive activity to encourage togetherness and a sense of shared responsibility in maintaining the cleanliness of the Mandalika beach tourism area. In addition, this activity is also a form of our concern as local residents in the environment around where we live, "said Kanom. Separately, the Director of Construction and Operations of ITDC Ngurah Wirawan expressed his appreciation for the initiative of the local community in conducting beach clean activities. "The Beach Clean Up program movement is a positive movement which we greatly appreciate for being a public interest after the earthquake that took place last year. People have an awareness that cleanliness is one of the main factors of tourists visiting a destination. So, the desire to enliven the area is not only from the managers, but also from the stakeholders of the Mandalika, "said Ngurah Wirawan. Ngurah added, this clean beach movement was a real positive action that had been planned by the local community together with the area manager to embrace each other in keeping the Mandalika area comfortable. Ngurah realizes that as a coastal area, the Mandalika cannot avoid organic and non-organic waste. "We have appealed to the public to be more concerned and participate in protecting the environment. Cleanliness has become a priority scale in supporting tourism destinations, especially the Mandalika, as one of the ten New Bali, "continued Ngurah. ITDC hopes that this beach clean program will become a sustainable program because it is a positive activity to be carried out by regional managers and stakeholders. "In the future, we hope that this program can continue to be implemented so that the Mandalika area can become cleaner and become a convenient tourist destination for tourists and stakeholders to visit," concluded Ngurah.
