The Mandalika, 11 October 2026 – To promote inclusive tourism, PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), also known as InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), in collaboration with NTB Care, provided persons with disabilities from West Lombok and Central Lombok with the opportunity to experience the international Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia motor racing event from 9–11 October 2026.
Over the three-day event, participants with disabilities were welcomed as guests at the Hospitality VIP Luxury Tent, where they could experience the excitement and atmosphere of the motorcycle racing event held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit.
This initiative builds on the collaboration between NTB Care and ITDC’s Community Development team to promote inclusive and disability-friendly tourism, while also welcoming the upcoming International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December 2026.
Chairman of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, Troy Warokka, said, “This activity continues the collaboration established between ITDC and NTB Care. Furthermore, it reflects ITDC’s commitment to creating tourism destinations that provide access and opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate in tourism activities, including international events held in The Mandalika. Through these efforts, we hope to foster a strong sense of belonging among persons with disabilities toward The Mandalika.”
The event was also organized with careful consideration of the needs and comfort of participants with disabilities. To ensure that they could take part safely and comfortably, NTB Care provided a sign language interpreter and a dedicated team to assist participants with disabilities throughout their time in the VIP area.
One of the participants, Hamzah, a person with a disability from West Lombok, expressed his appreciation for the initiative. “This event has given us a new experience. Although we cannot visually enjoy the atmosphere, not everyone has the opportunity to access this place. We are grateful for this collaboration, which has enabled us to become part of this world-class event,” Hamzah said.
Similarly, Usman, a visually impaired participant from Central Lombok, expressed his happiness. “Alhamdulillah, I am happy to have access to this event. This is the first time I have been able to attend an international-scale event. Thank you to NTB Care and ITDC for sharing this excitement with us,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the NTB Regional Board of the Indonesian Blind Association (Persatuan Tunanetra Indonesia/Pertuni), Gr. Topan MA, S.Pd., also expressed his appreciation for the initiative by ITDC and NTB Care. “Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be part of this world-class event. We hope ITDC will provide even greater opportunities for the disability community in NTB in the future,” he said.
Director of NTB Care, Yuni Bourhany, expressed her appreciation to ITDC for its support and for providing persons with disabilities the opportunity to experience the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia from the Hospitality VIP Luxury Tent.
“Thank you, ITDC, for providing more than just seats in the Luxury Tent. You have also given these individuals dignity and the feeling of being recognized as equal human beings. For persons with disabilities who have long been able to hear the roar of events only from outside the gates, today they are part of the experience itself. This initiative, held from 9–11 October, is part of our shared efforts leading up to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December,” Yuni said.
In addition to providing persons with disabilities with the opportunity to watch the race from the Hospitality VIP Luxury Tent, ITDC also sought to improve accessibility for other spectators with disabilities through its Ask Me team operating at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit. The team identified several spectators with disabilities holding regular tickets who faced mobility challenges when accessing the grandstand area. In coordination with the shuttle team, the Ask Me team arranged pick-ups and drop-offs at the shuttle point at Gate 1, while also assisting spectators with their mobility until they reached the grandstand area corresponding to their respective tickets.
“Through this initiative, persons with disabilities hope that collaborations like this will continue and reach more members of the disability community, while providing them with more sustained attention and support. This initiative forms part of ITDC’s commitment to delivering a more inclusive, safe, and comfortable viewing experience for all visitors attending the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026,” Troy Warokka concluded.
